Terms of Service

These terms cover the WinBastion family of Windows programs, the browser edition of MediaBastion, and this website. They are written to be read. Effective 5 September 2026.

Effective date: 5 September 2026. Operator: EBITA AI PRIVATE LIMITED (brand EBITA.AI; registration number 103358, RoC Ernakulam), Ernakulam, Kerala, India (“EBITA.AI”, “we”). “WinBastion” is EBITA.AI's brand and micro-tech unit; “the software” means every program published under it.

1. Acceptance

By downloading, installing or using any WinBastion program, by using the browser edition at winbastion.com/mediabastion/app/, by sending a tip or buying a licence, or by using this website, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the software or the website. If you are using the software on behalf of a company, you confirm that you may bind that company.

2. Who we are

The software and this website are published by EBITA.AI, a software company based in Ernakulam, Kerala, India. WinBastion is its brand and micro-tech unit. Contact details are in section 14 and on the Contact page.

3. The software

3.1 Free downloads and licence grant

Programs marked “Available” on the products page are free of charge unless a price is clearly stated. For each program we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use it on any number of Windows PCs that you own or control, for personal or commercial purposes, subject to these terms. Programs marked “In development” or “Coming soon” have no download and nothing is offered for sale.

3.2 What the software does to your PC

The software makes changes to Windows settings, services, scheduled tasks, installed apps, files and the registry when you ask it to. It keeps a journal of every change it makes, with the previous state, so that changes can be undone from within the program. You remain responsible for deciding which changes to apply, for reading what a change does before applying it, and for keeping backups of your data and system. Undo restores what the journal recorded; it cannot restore what was never recorded, such as changes made by other programs or by Windows itself.

3.3 No warranty; “as is”

The software and the website are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or that they will be error-free or uninterrupted. Windows changes, hardware differs, and no test suite covers every PC. To the extent a warranty cannot be excluded under applicable law, it is limited to the minimum that law allows.

3.4 Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, EBITA.AI's total liability to you for all claims arising out of or relating to the software, the website or these terms is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, and is nil for software you did not pay for. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, revenue or goodwill, even if we were advised of the possibility. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything that cannot be limited under applicable law, including your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.

3.5 Updates

WinBastion can check a public release feed and install updates. You can turn automatic installation off in Settings and roll back to an earlier version. Updates may add, change or remove features; we will never remove a feature you paid for in a version you already have.

4. Tips and payments

Tips (“Support the developer”, “Buy me a chai”) are voluntary payments for software you already have. They are not donations to a charity and they do not buy a service, a feature or a promise of future work. A tip may come with a thank-you: a supporter code that shows a badge in the program. Tips are non-refundable, except as stated in the Cancellation and Refund Policy and summarised in section 7.

Payments are processed by third-party payment processors: Razorpay or Cashfree for payments in India, Ko-fi (PayPal) and GitHub Sponsors (Stripe) for the rest of the world, and Stripe where offered. Your payment is subject to the processor's own terms and privacy policy. We never see or store card numbers, UPI PINs or bank credentials; we receive your name, email address, the amount and a transaction id. Prices shown in rupees are inclusive of Indian GST where it applies.

5. Paid licences (if ever offered)

Today every program is free of charge and funded only by voluntary, pay-what-you-want tips (section 4); we sell no licences. If we ever sell a paid licence, the following applies. A paid licence would be a one-time purchase, licensed per person: the named licensee may use it on every PC they personally use. It is delivered as an offline licence file by email. It is not a subscription, has no renewal and does not expire. A Pro licence may not be resold, shared with other people or used to run the program for third parties as a service. If we cannot issue the licence file after payment, you are entitled to a full refund (Refund Policy).

6. Cancellation policy

There are no subscriptions to cancel. Nothing we sell renews or bills you again. A one-off tip is complete the moment it is made and there is nothing to cancel afterwards; a monthly tip or sponsorship set up on Ko-fi or GitHub Sponsors is cancelled on that platform, at any time, with immediate effect, and no further payment is taken.

Paid licences, if we ever sell one. A one-time licence may be cancelled for a full refund within 14 days of purchase if the licence file has not been activated. Once activated, the purchase is complete and the cancellation right ends, without prejudice to the refund grounds in section 7. To cancel, email mustafa@ebita.ai with the transaction id and date.

Removing the software. You may stop using any program at any time by uninstalling it from Windows Settings > Apps > Installed apps. Uninstalling does not refund a tip.

7. Refund policy

The full policy is the Cancellation and Refund Policy, which forms part of these terms. In summary:

  • Tips are voluntary payments for software you already have and are non-refundable, except in the cases below.
  • Duplicate or mistaken payments (the same tip charged twice, or an amount typed wrongly) are refunded in full on request within 7 days of the payment.
  • Failed delivery of a paid licence (if we ever sell one): if we cannot issue the licence file, the purchase is refunded in full within 7 days of your request.
  • A technical fault that prevents paid software from working on a supported Windows version, and that we cannot fix within 14 days of your report, is refunded in full.
  • Approved refunds go back to the original payment method within 5–7 working days; the processor or your bank may take longer to show it.

Request a refund by email to mustafa@ebita.ai with the transaction id and the date of payment.

8. Prohibited use

You may not: (a) redistribute modified builds of the software under the WinBastion name or in a way that suggests we published them; (b) remove or alter copyright, trademark or licence notices; (c) sell, rent or sublicense the software, or charge others for access to it; (d) use the software to gain unauthorised access to systems you do not own or control, or to interfere with other people's software or data; (e) reverse engineer the software except to the extent applicable law allows it despite this clause; (f) use the software or the website in a way that breaks the law or infringes anyone's rights; (g) scrape, overload or attack the website or the release feed.

9. Intellectual property

The software, its rules, service write-ups, documentation, this website, and the WinBastion, MediaBastion and other Bastion names and logos are owned by EBITA.AI and protected by copyright and trademark law. These terms give you a licence to use the software; they do not transfer ownership. Where source code is published in a public repository, it is licensed under the terms stated in that repository, which take precedence for that code. Windows is a trademark of Microsoft Corporation; EBITA.AI is not affiliated with Microsoft.

10. Third-party components

The software includes open-source components. Each program lists them, with their licence texts, in its About page or licences page; the browser edition of MediaBastion lists them at /mediabastion/app/licenses.html. Those components are licensed to you under their own terms, which govern your use of them. Nothing in these terms restricts rights granted to you by an open-source licence.

11. The website

This website is a set of static pages with no accounts and no user-generated content. Downloads are served from GitHub Releases; SHA-256 checksums are published so you can verify a file. Links to third-party sites (GitHub, Hugging Face, payment processors) are provided for convenience; we do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or practices. Our Privacy Policy describes what the website and the software collect.

12. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms when the software, the law or our payment arrangements change. The current version is always at winbastion.com/terms.html with its effective date at the top. Changes apply from their effective date; they do not remove a right you acquired under an earlier version, such as a licence you already paid for. Continuing to use the software or the website after a change means you accept the changed terms.

13. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rules that give you the right to bring a claim elsewhere, the courts at Ernakulam, Kerala, India have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these terms, the software or the website. Before going to court, please write to us; almost every problem is solved by email within days.
