What it is

RecoverBastion in a paragraph

RecoverBastion gets back files you lost: emptied from the Recycle Bin, removed with Shift+Delete, or wiped from a camera card or USB stick. It reads the drive without changing it, shows what it can recover with an honest chance and a preview, and saves the results to a different drive so nothing in danger is overwritten. Free, no account, nothing uploaded.

Planned for the first release

  • Restore from the Recycle Bin and from Windows previous versions (shadow copies)
  • Undelete on NTFS and FAT by reading the file table, with the real name, path and dates
  • Deep scan that carves files back by their content when the metadata is gone
  • Honest chance labels (intact, partial, overwritten) and a preview before you recover
  • Recover to a different drive so the source is never overwritten; the source is read-only
  • Free, pay what you want; no account, no cloud, no scan-then-pay wall

Offline firstWorks with the network cable unplugged. Any connection it makes is listed and optional.
Every change undoableAnything it changes is journaled with its previous state and can be put back.
No telemetryNo account, no analytics, no crash reporting. Nothing about you leaves the PC.
Pay whatever you wantFree to use. If it helps you, tip what you think it is worth. No paywalls, no feature ever switched off.
Windows 11 Home includedTested on Home edition first; anything that only works on Pro is labelled.
